Researching an artist’s Digipak

The Arctic Monkeys digipak for their album AM is simple in design. I like this as it imitates their simple rock and roll style. The image on the cover seems to flow which again is a representation of the band’s music and style. The black and white colour scheme is synonymous with rock and roll as a genre and it fits the mood of the album as well. The 2 polar opposites of the black and white reflect the tracks in a way that some can be upbeat and others are completely different as they are slow and moody. An example of this is the tracks “Do I wanna know” and “No1. Party Anthem”.  Despite the colour scheme being used a lot within the genre the simple cover art that the Arctic Monkeys have used for this album is quite different to other rock bands. Bands in this genre tend to prefer full hectic album covers. This is an attempt to differentiate themselves from fellow bands in the same genre. The back of the cover is just as simplistic in design. Containing a list of the tracks, keeping to the black and white colour scheme. Finally on the top of the back of the cover is the bands logo. Like the design of the album their logo is simple and sticks to the colour scheme.
